Information about MILLIE Scouts

About

Welcome to the MILLIE Scout Network!

We are changing the way military families research new locations, PCS, manage their long distance rentals, and live this military life.  Scouts are the link between the internet research and actually being there to experience it yourself.

Scouts are just one of the ways MILLIE helps military families. Need a little more info on an installation you're headed to? Check out one of our installation guides, curated with the help of hundreds of military spouses who are actually stationed there! If you're looking to buy or sell a home, our AgentHero network of veteran and military spouse real estate agents are standing by to help! And we also have a storytelling platform for military spouses to tell their inspiring stories of how they're rocking this life.

Our team, our network of over 120 Scouts and our 600+ AgentHeroes are all positively obsessed with MILLIE's mission of Bringing Military Families Home.

Let us help you with your next PCS!

FAQ's

FOR CLIENTS
Who are Scouts?
Scouts are all active duty, gold star spouses or newly retired military spouses who have many years of experience PCS’ing, buying homes, renting homes, deployments, community involvement and volunteering.

Are Scouts employees of MILLIE?
No, Scouts are independent contractors. When you hire a Scout you are supporting a military spouse’s endeavor to contribute financially to her family.

How do I hire a Scout?
It’s simple, really. You can browse the Scouts by location on the website: scout.gomillie.com.  You can view their listings, request a service and message them directly.

Are Scouts the same as property managers?
No, Scouts are simply there to complete tasks for the landlord or tenant.  Scouts are not allowed to accept rent or deposit payments on behalf of the landlord, represent the landlord, or act on behalf of the client.  Scouts are there to complete a task when you are not able to complete it yourself.  They gather information and pass it along to you in a report, photos and videos so that you can make the best decision for yourself.

Is this legal?
Yes. The Scout is performing tasks, collecting information, and providing that information to the client. Scouts don’t make recommendations or act legally on behalf of the client.

What is the cost to use a Scout?
It depends on the service you need completed. Each Scout has listings displayed on their profile with pricing.

How do I pay my Scout?
You will pay the Scout directly on the site with a credit/debit card or PayPal account.  You simply request a service and when the Scout accepts the request you will be charged.

Why can’t my Scout do this for free?
Our Scouts are independent contractors and do have a fee associated with their time. Paying for the job allows you to receive a quality service with a certain level of expectation and no strings attached. You can expect a professional level job with your Scout. If you are looking for a free service then perhaps asking a friend in the area would be a better fit for you.

When are Scouts available?
Well, that depends on the Scout. The Scouts will do their best to accommodate your request in a timely manner. If they cannot meet the timeframe they will let you know immediately.

Can I change my task once it is accepted by a Scout?
Sure, you can always change your mind. However if your Scout has already completed a task you will need to pay for the time the Scout has already dedicated to the original task.

How do I contact my Scout?
You can contact your Scout through the website messaging system.

How do I view my Scout’s profile and reviews?
On the Home page search by location and the closest Scout(s) will show in the results.  To see the Scout’s full profile and reviews, simply click on their name and it will direct you to their profile and listings.

How do I leave a review for my Scout?
After you mark the request as completed, you will be prompted to review your Scout. Please write a review as it helps Scouts improve their service and it always feels good to get a pat on the back for a job well done.

Is a Scout liable for their decisions?
This is a trick question! No, because the Scout doesn’t make any decisions on behalf of the client. They simply collect information and provide that to the client.

Do people hire the Scouts from your site or do you assign the jobs?
Clients choose their Scout by the Scout profiles on the website.

Are Scouts employees of MILLIE?
No, Scouts are independent contractors. Every job is a contract between you and your Client.  85% of the money the Scout receives from tasks completed goes directly to them as compensation. The other 15% goes to MILLIE to help keep the lights on.

Are Scouts the same as property managers?
No. Scouts are simply there to complete tasks for the landlord or tenant.  Scouts are not allowed to accept rent or deposit payments on behalf of the landlord, represent the landlord, or act on behalf of the client.  Scouts are there to complete a task when you are not able to complete it yourself.  They gather information and pass it along to the client in a report, photos, and videos so they can make the best decision for themselves.

How safe is it to be a Scout?
Our Scout Guides go over Scout safety. It is important to assess each job from a safety perspective. It is also important for you to make good safety judgement calls.

Going into some neighborhoods in certain areas could be a little sketchy. Would we have the option of backing out if the area is seriously dangerous?
Personal safety is a top priority for us. If it is not an area you are comfortable with simply reject the request.

I work full time, can I still become a Scout?
Sure. You can note that in your Scout profile. Many Scout jobs can be done during the “other” hours of the day. If the particular job calls for a Scout during the day you just won’t be able to take that one.

We wish we knew the answer to this. It really depends on the area you’re working in and the time of year.

You will be informed through an email notification that you have a message waiting in your Scout Inbox.

How many Scouts will you have in each area?
At larger installations, we are building a small team of Scouts to cover more area and give our clients options. At the smaller installations we may only have one or two.

How can I make the most of this opportunity and become more involved?
Spread the word! The more people that know about this opportunity to either be a Scout or use the service the better for everyone involved.
